SuperCalco

Lime has been used as a binder in mortars for over 2,000 years. Today, hydrated lime is used in modern cement-based masonry mortars, mainly for its properties as a plasticizer. Lime is commonly used in mortars, plasters and renders, because it also has other specific properties that allow buildings to breathe and to create a healthy climate inside a building. Lime in mortars acts as a carbon sponge, reducing the carbon footprint of each construction. Carmeuse offers a broad range of conventional hydrated limes, formulated limes and hydraulic limes, called SuperCalco® . These are adapted to meet the specifications of designers, craftsmen or building owners, whether for old or contemporary buildings.

Our range

  • SuperCalco® A5

SuperCalco® A5 is a formulated lime classified as FL A5 according to EN 459-1. It is our greenest product without cement in the mix, guaranteeing a compressive strength of 5 MPa after 28 days. It is a workable binder suitable for more general purposes. Easy to mix and very workable, it has a good adhesion, is quick setting, and has excellent early strength. The product complies with CE marking and national regulations.

  • SuperCalco® M

SuperCalco® M is classified as building lime CL70-S according to EN 459-1, adapted to the needs of craftsmen thanks to its higher workability and better integration in sand-lime mixtures. It is recommended for masonry and rougher types of plastering and rendering. The product complies with CE marking and national regulations.

  • SuperCalco® S

SuperCalco® S is classified as building lime CL90-S according to EN 459-1, adapted to the needs of craftsmen thanks to its higher workability. It is recommended for all types of masonry, plastering and rendering, and even for the finest smooth finishing layers. The product complies with CE marking and national regulations.

  • SuperCalco® H

Hemp absorbs carbon dioxide as the plant grows. As a result, the use of hemp and lime when building helps to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings, and can even lead to a negative footprint for the entire construction. Hemp-building results in low-energy houses, because hempcrete can absorb and hold heat (thermal mass) during sunny periods, when heat is not needed for internal living or work spaces. That heat is released when required, such as during overcast periods or at night, to provide substantial energy and cost savings. Buildings with hemp have high vapor permeability, which facilitates the through-transfer of humidity and thus avoids condensation and trapped moisture within the building. This improves the building's air quality and controls humidity, whilst reducing the risk of the growth of molds and fungi that may affect occupants’ health. Carmeuse has developed limes to satisfy the needs of all designers, craftsmen and home-owners for their hemp-building construction.
